'Grenade-like object' found in South Shore is dud, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police have determined a "grenade-like object" found inside a building under construction in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood is a dud and does not pose any threat.

The Chicago Police bomb unit responded to the scene in the 2100-block of E. 71st Street Friday morning. Police said someone found the object while rehabbing a building.

Traffic was blocked off in the area as police investigated.
