CHICAGO (WLS) -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is in Chicago Wednesday night for a pair of fundraisers and a meeting with parents about the challenges that families face.

The first fundraiser started at 4:30 p.m. at the Park West home of multimillionaire Fred Eychaner. After that wrapped up, a second fundraiser started at 6:30 p.m. at the Gold Coast home of J.B. Pritzker, who backed her in the 2008 campaign.

In addition, a fundraiser was held Tuesday night at the home of Barbara Manilow. Tickets to each of the event cost $2,700 per person.

The fundraising effort is called the "Hillstarters" program.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, Clinton met with parents and childcare providers, who shared their stories about the challenges families face.

"Being around my new seven-and-a-half-month-old granddaughter just reinforces what I believe, which is that when we shortchange child care workers, we short-change kids and we short-change America's future," Clinton said during the meeting.

Parent Matt Hoffman said he appreciated Clinton's willingness to chat with everyday citizens.

"Usually when you see a politician of that caliber, they're giving you a speech and you're in the audience listening," Hoffman said. "But the tables were clearly turned. She wanted to hear from us."

The visit also allowed Clinton to build her base of supports, which includes Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

"You want judgment and I think throughout her career, both professionally and also as a mother, she shows incredible judgment," Emanuel said.

Republican Presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz were also in Chicago recently for fundraising events. Next week, candidate Rand Paul will be in Chicago for a day of events, including a "Stand with Rand" rally with Pastor Corey Brooks.
