ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An 11-year-old girl was credited for her incredible bravery as three men ransacked her Florida home last week.

Ashley Bermudez was home alone when she saw a vehicle she didn't recognize pull into her driveway. She ran to an upstairs bedroom, hid in a closet and called 911 as three men broke into her home, WFTV reports.

"Hello? Please. I need help. I need help. I need help," Ashley whispered, desperately.

The suspects took about $13,000 in property from her home. After they made their way upstairs, they kicked down the bedroom door and found Ashley.

"Oh no. Please. Please, I won't say anything. I promise you," Ashley told them while she was still on the phone with the 911 dispatcher.

Police said the men ran after they found the girl and were arrested after crashing their getaway vehicle into a flatbed truck.

Three people were charged in the home invasion. Police said they plan to honor Ashley for her bravery.

Good Morning America was there when Ashley got to meet her hero, Michele Fernandez. The Orange County Sheriff's Office dispatcher kept the girl calm through the entire ordeal.

"She followed all the instructions. She did a great job, being 11 years old. She did better than any adult out there," Fernandez said.
