EUGENE, Ore. -- An Oregon woman who had an illegal relationship with her biological father will spend 10 days in jail.
Chalena Moody, 25, pleaded guilty to felony incest after police became aware that she and her biological father were in a consensual relationship that had produced two children, according to The Register Guard.
The state has taken custody of both children, who were born with "severe mental and physical impairments," ABC affiliate KEZI-TV reports.
"There's issues with the children, and they've been put into foster care," said Sgt. Dave Lewis with Springfield Police. "It's not a good situation all around."
Moody's father, Eric Lee Gates, 49, was sentenced to the same 10 day sentence for felony incest back in January. He's currently back in jail for violating his probation by having contact with his daughter after the first sentence ended.
Oregon law defines felony incest when "the person marries or engages in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual intercourse with a person whom the person knows to be related to the person, either legitimately or illegitimately, as an ancestor, descendant or brother or sister of either the whole or half blood."
