LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLS) -- The search for an escaped inmate in northwest Indiana ended peacefully overnight.

Police say Marcus Bramlett surrendered after officers surrounded a home in Lafayette, Ind., where he had barricaded himself inside.

Police say he allegedly attacked a deputy and stole her car on Friday during his transfer from a hospital to jail. That car was found abandoned early Saturday morning, setting off a statewide search.
