NILES, Ill. (WLS) -- Police in north suburban Niles have issued a warning about phone scammers pretending to be from the IRS who are targeting senior citizens.

Police say they are using threatening language to demand money.

The callers use fake IRS badge numbers and know part of the victim's social security number.

Anyone receiving a call like this should hang up and call police.
