UPPER EAST SIDE (WLS) -- Comedienne Joan Rivers was initially rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition in New York Thursday, with reports saying she suffered cardiac arrest.
The 81-year-old was taken from 201 East 93rd Street, Yorkville Endoscopy. She is now listed in stable condition.
Daughter Melissa Rivers said in a statement Thursday night: "I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
TMZ is reporting that Joan Rivers stopped breathing while in surgery at a clinic.

"Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available," said Sid Dinsay, spokesman, The Mount Sinai Hospital.
Melissa Rivers told E! News in an exclusive statement, "My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery."
