CHICAGO (WLS) -- Good policing is about so much more than officers walking the beat and patrolling neighborhoods.

These days, departments are finding that technology is a powerful tool in fighting crime. It helps them with such things as analyzing data, engaging with citizens and giving officers the information they need on the street, where they need it.

Joining us on Newsviews to talk more about the role of technology to combat crime is Jody Weis, the North America Public Safety Lead for Accenture - a management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.

He's also the former superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.
