HOUSTON -- There was a moving tribute held for a Klein Forest High School student in Texas, killed while on his way to graduation Saturday morning. Dozens turned out for a vigil Sunday night.

Omar Rodas died Saturday when the car he was riding in collided with a dump truck on the North Freeway at Main.

The 18-year-old was headed to his commencement ceremony at NRG Stadium.

"He didn't get to walk, but just to be here and honor him," Rodas' sister told us. "I don't know how to thank everyone supporting my family, we appreciate it."

Pat Crittendon had been his principal since sixth grade. She says Rodas had worked hard to get there, but the accident left the Klein Forest class of 2015 with a big hole in their hearts.

"We want to give him the ceremony he deserves. He didn't get to graduate, but he graduated on to better things," said Rodas' friend, Gaby Flores.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in his honor.
