Frozen green bean brand recalled for 2nd time for listeria concerns

Cascadian Farm cut green beans are being recalled due to a possible listeria contamination for the second for this brand in about six weeks, General Mills announced.

The recall affects 16-ounce bags with a "Best if used by" date of June 29, 2017.

A Cascadian Farm recall in late August was for 10-ounce bags of cut green beans with "Best if used by" dates of April 10, 2016 and April 11, 2016

No related illnesses have been reported in connection with this product, the company said.

The company said that the voluntary recall is a precaution after one package tested positive for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The packaged green beans were distributed to retail establishments nationwide.

Listeria typically does not cause significant illnesses in healthy people but poses a high risk for pregnant women, newborns, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.

Customers who purchased the green beans can call Cascadian Farm Consumer Relations at 1-800-624-4123 for a replacement.
