CHICAGO (WLS) -- The NASCAR Chicago Street Race for 2024 is being held in and around Grant Park on July 6 and 7. Along with two banner races, the event features a family-friendly festival with with live music, including performances by The Black Keys, The Chainsmokers and Keith Urban.
Extensive street closures and re-routes are now in place as the city constructs the winding race course, and fans are flocking to the city over the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Chicago Street Race president Julie Giese is live on the course with all of Saturday's highlights. From race times to today's performances by Buddy Guy, The Black Keys and Chainsmokers.
NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski spoke with ABC7 about what fans can expect from the Chicago Street Race weekend. It's a particularly unique event, with a course unlike any other in NASCAR's repertoire.
"NASCAR doesn't race on any other street courses other than Chicago. This is the only one. There's nothing like it for us," he said. "The track is really narrow, so very unforgiving. You make a mistake, you immediately are going to hit something hard that you don't want to hit and probably end your day."
African American NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, coming off a top 10 finish in Nashville, hosted a road rally in conjunction with Black McDonald's Owner/Operators on the Near South Side.
"There's no better place to be than Chicago downtown right in the heart of it. just getting people accustomed to what NASCAR's about," he said.
A graduate of the University of Chicago and first-generation Colombian American, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Andre Castro will once again race under his alma mater's banner, representing UChicago Medicine.
He'll be driving the No. 14 Chevrolet Camaro for SS-Green Light Racing.
