Monday, Feb. 8 is the Lunar New Year and the start of the Year of the Monkey.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Monday, Feb. 8 is the Lunar New Year and the start of the Year of the Monkey. Millions of people around the world celebrate the holiday, including Chicago.

On Saturday, Feb. 6, the Asian American Coalition of Chicago hosts its Lunar New Year Gala.

The gala features performances from Asiatic dance groups, musicians, and more. ABC 7's Linda Yu and Cary Chow of ESPN will serve as emcees for the evening. Guests at the gala will eat from an Asian-inspired menu, and enjoy an award ceremony to honor community leaders and outstanding youths.

Karen Eng, the Chairman of the Asian American Coalition of Chicago Lunar New Year Gala, visited ABC 7 Eyewitness News to talk about the upcoming gala.
