Man, 19, fatally shot in Aurora

AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in Aurora Saturday, police said.

Daniel Sanchez was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds in the 600-block of South Elmwood Drive around 12:05 p.m., police said. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police that they heard a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed after hearing gunfire, police said. Officials are continuing to investigate a possible cause, although investigators say evidence at the scene showed that narcotics cannot be ruled out.

An autopsy will be performed Sunday by the DuPage County Coroner's office.
