Man riding in SUV wounded in Gold Coast drive-by shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 33-year-old man riding in an SUV was shot in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood overnight.

Police said the victim was riding in a black SUV in the 1200-block of North State Street around 3:35 a.m. Friday when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire, striking him in the leg.

He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized. He is expected to be OK.

Investigators said the victim does not have any gang ties. They did not release a description of the suspect or vehicle. No one is in custody.
