Famous French bulldog lifts patients' spirits during hospital visit

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- Manny the French bulldog, who also happens to be a social media star, visited patients at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Friday.

He's developed an Instagram following of 1 million and put that to good use, lifting the spirits of those battling conditions like Alzheimer's, dementia and Parkinson's.

Manny, a published author, will next work to be certified for visiting children's hospitals.

"I never thought that sharing photos of my dog would bring such joy to people," says owner, Amber Chavez.
