CHICAGO (WLS) -- Metra riders are paying more for tickets Monday, as new fare increases take effect.
Metra customers who buy 10-ride tickets will pay $1.75 more on Monday - or 17 cents more per trip. One-way tickets will cost 25 cents more. Riders who buy monthly tickets will pay $2.50 more per month.
Other fare increases include an additional 75 cents on the reduced fare 10-ride ticket and $1.25 on the reduced fare monthly ticket.
The money will be used to help pay for a federally mandated safety system and the transit agency's modernization plan.
