Metra UP-NW trains strikes pedestrian near Cary, Ill.

CARY, Ill. (WLS) -- Metra Union Pacific Northwest trains were delayed up to an hour Tuesday evening after a train struck a pedestrian.

Inbound and outbound trains were impacted, experiencing delays of around an hour as late as 10:30 p.m. The delays were expected to resolve overnight.

A Metra spokesperson said an inbound train struck the pedestrian around 5 p.m. at or near Three Oaks Road, between the Cary and Pinegree Grove stops. Officials said the incident appears to have been intentional.
