Warning issued on Microsoft support scam

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan issued a warning about a Microsoft tech support phone scam the ABC7 I-Team first reported on Friday.

The scammers pose as Microsoft or tech support employees and claim they detected a virus or malware on your computer.

They trick them into providing remote access to computers or paying for unnecessary software fixes.

The scammers also charge your credit card and attempt to install software that can steal your personal information.
