MINOOKA, Ill. (WLS) -- Bus drivers in southwest suburban Minooka went on strike Thursday morning.

Students in Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 and Minooka Community High School District 111 may arrive at school late Thursday.

District officials posted about the work stoppage on their websites, saying that transportation staff represented by Teamsters Local 179 walked off the job and started picketing outside their bus garage.

But transportation services continued Thursday, with some delays, officials said. Bus drivers who were not on strike worked their routes and were then reassigned to cover other routes later in the morning, to make sure all students made it to class.

ABC7 Eyewitness News has reached out to Teamsters Local 179 and is waiting to hear back.
