Malala Yousafzai meets with missing Nigerian girls' families

ABUJA, Nigeria (WLS) -- A teenage Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot by militants met with the relatives of the Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram.

Malala Yousafzai promised them she will continue to participate actively in the "Bring Back Our Girls" campaign.

Dozens of the 276 schoolgirls abducted in April escaped, but 219 still are missing.

Yousafzai told the missing girls' parents she's standing with them and calls those missing girls her sisters.

"I'm hopeful that the government would listen to your voice and they would listen to what you are saying," she said. "You just want your daughters back, you just want your girls back."

Yousafzai turned 17-years-old Saturday. She said her birthday wish is to bring back the girls now and alive.
