SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- A sexual harassment case against former state treasurer Dan Rutherford is moving forward after a judge denied Rutherford's claims that the accusations are politically motivated.

Rutherford is accused of making sexual advances toward a male staff and groping the aide in his office in Springfield.

The suit was filed just weeks before last year's Republican primary for governor. Rutherford finished fourth in that race.

Both sides are due back in court next week.
