CHICAGO (WLS) -- Some Illinois lawmakers are making a new push to get Congress to fund what's known as "positive train control".

Sen. Dick Durbin, U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley and U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski talked about the system at the LaSalle Metra station on Monday. Positive train control is a communication and signaling system that helps fix human errors.

They say Congress mandated PTC in 2008, but aren't properly funding it. Experts say it can prevent crashes like the one in Philadelphia in May.
