Cook County Jail is on lockdown until further notice due to a labor shortage at the jail because of the extreme weather conditions.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said approximately 36 percent of jail staff did not report to work in the last 24 hours. A total of 110 officers on Sunday night's and Monday morning's shifts are working overtime to compensate for the staff shortage, Dart said.

Dart thanked his staff who came in to work despite the weather.
