CPS Bret Harte Elementary gets new playground

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Just in time for the new school year, Chicago's Bret Harte Elementary on the South Side has a new playground.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the principal were at the ribbon cutting Friday.

The project is part of his goal to rebuild every playground in the city.

After the ribbon cutting, students and staff enjoyed an ice cream social.

The first day of school for CPS is Tuesday.
