CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 21-year-old man was shot in the head on Chicago's Southwest Side after throwing a can at a driver, police said.
Authorities said the 21-year-old was standing on the corner of West 59th Street and South Pulaski Road around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday when he allegedly put up a gang sign and threw a can at a 28-year-old man who had stopped his red Chevrolet Malibu at the intersection.
The 28-year-old man pulled out a gun and shot the younger man, investigators said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head. He is listed in critical condition.
The driver took off, heading south. Officers arrested a suspect 10 minutes later near West 63rd and South Whipple streets.
Sources close to the investigation said the 28-year-old man is a security guard. Police have not confirmed this. Charges are pending against him.
