MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (WLS) -- A northwest Indiana family is looking for Francisco Vargas Perez, a husband and father who has been missing for more than three months.

Vargas Perez, 29, was last seen in Merrillville on Feb. 7, 2016. His family says it makes no sense. He is known by the nickname "Paco," and relatives say he seems to have simply vanished leaving his phone and passport behind at his home. He was last seen walking outside his cousin's house in Merrillville where he was staying for a few days.

"We were literally just sitting with him that day and then out of nowhere, five minutes later, he's gone. It's frustrating," says cousin Zachary VanDrunes.

Relatives have put up flyers around town, hoping someone may have seen him and offer police a lead. They say this was completely out of character.

Vargas Perez lived in Munster with this wife and 6-year-old daughter.

"He was such a family-oriented person," says his cousin Beverly VanDrunes. "That's the biggest thing. He was so family-oriented. For him to just leave his daughter and his wife behind, it's unimaginable, it's unfathomable."

Adding to the mystery is the cell phone and passport he left behind. Vargas lived in Mexico for a number of years, but his family doubts he could have returned there without his passport.

"There's no leads, there's no developments, it's just a mystery. How could someone vanish like that, abrupty?" asks Raul Montes.

The family says police in Merrillville and Munster have run out of leads as well. The family is offering a reward for information that helps find him.
