Police: Boy, 10, dies of gunshot to stomach

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police say a 10-year-old boy has died after being shot in the stomach around 9 p.m.

Police say the gun was found outside in the 7400-block of South St. Lawrence in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood and thought to be a toy. A family member accidentally fired the weapon, striking the boy, officials say.

Police have the family member in custody.
