Woman, 18, stabbed and critically wounded in South Austin

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An 18-year-old woman was stabbed and critically wounded near Madison Street and Laramie Avenue in Chicago's South Austin neighborhood Friday afternoon, police say.

Police say the woman was on foot when she got in an "altercation" with an unknown offender, who then stabbed her in the chest. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Police are investigating.
