Ohio is dealing with a mumps outbreak, as 439 cases have been confirmed in the state this year alone.

That is higher than the national number for all of last year, and is the largest outbreak in the area since 1979.

But Ohio health officials said the outbreak is on the decline.

Doctors are encouraging people to ensure that their vaccinations are updated and to stay away from people who are ill to keep the mumps from spreading.
