Friday Flyover: Oswego East High School

OSWEGO, Ill. (WLS) -- This week, we feature Oswego East High School on ABC7's Friday Flyover, celebrating high school sports!

Oswego East is the home of the Wolves! Friday night's football game will be against the Plainfield South Cougars at Plainfield South High School.

Sophomores play at 4:30 p.m. Varsity plays at 7 p.m.

Fun Facts:

-East has a 4 year graduation cohort rate of 98 percent.

-The graduating class of 2016 reported in excess of $6. million awarded in scholarships.

-In 2016, students volunteered 28,422 hours of community service and 91 percent of OEHS graduates attended a two- or four-year school.

-Oswego East offers 30 Advanced Placement courses, 11 dual credit courses and 18 opportunities for articulated credit. There are also academic honors societies.

-In 2016, 102 students were designated AP Scholars, 15 were designated AP Scholars with Honors, 21 Students were designated AP Scholars with Distinction and 5 students was recognized as a National AP Scholar.

-The 2015 Robotics Team placed fourth in the WORLD

-EAST has over 75 clubs and activities and 26 varsity athletic programs.

-23 of 26 Athletic Programs earned a 3.0+ GPA

School History/Information:

-Oswego East was founded in 2004. In the first year, there were 740 total students in the building.

-For the 2016-2017 school year, there are 2,578 students enrolled. The freshman class alone has 681 students.

Awards/Accolades:

-OEHS ranked 80th in the Chicago metropolitan area and 86th statewide in the Niche 2016 rankings (Out of 23,861 schools!)

-OEHS marching band earned Grand Champion honor in 2015

-OEHS is recognized as an Illinois Democracy School
