Pat Pradel, wife of retired Naperville Mayor George Pradel, dies

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Pat Pradel, the wife of beloved retired Naperville Mayor George Pradel, has died, according to a statement released Sunday.

Pat Pradel died Saturday morning at Edward Hospital following a battle with bone cancer. She was 75-years-old.

"She was the silent champion of Naperville, supporting me and caring for our family when my duties as Mayor kept me away from home and out in the community. Her love for this community was strong and genuine, if not always front and center in the public eye," Mayor Emeritus George Pradel said in a statement.

The Pradels had been married for 55 years. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind three adult children.

Her services will be held on Thursday and are open to the public.
