$1K reward being offered for information in deadly S. Side hit-and-run

CHICAGO (WLS) -- There's now a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest after a deadly hit-and-run on Chicago's South Side.

It happened on July 24, just before 1 p.m.

An unknown silver SUV hit a man in the 3300-block of South King Drive in the city's Douglas neighborhood.

The victim, 84-year-old Melton Smith, was left in the street. He was taken to a hospital, and died a month later.

Police previously said he was 83 years old.

Police said the suspect vehicle was possibly a Mercedes, BMW or a Lexus. The vehicle may have front-end damage and a broken headlight.
