Teen girl shot, killed at apartment complex in north suburbs: Sheriff

COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- A teen girl was shot and killed at an apartment complex Saturday in the north suburbs.

The shooting happened around 11 a.m. in the 3600 South Salem Walk in unincorporated Glenview, which is in the area of Salem Walk Apartments, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff's police responded to the scene and found a 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 16-year-old Lilly B. Bova.

No further information about the circumstances of the shooting was available as Cook County Sheriff's Police detectives continue to investigate.
