Dozens displaced by large apartment fire in Carpentersville

CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Firefighters battled a large blaze at a north suburban apartment complex on Saturday morning.

The Carpentersville Fire Dept. said the fire happened in the early morning at the Meadowdale Apartments at 104 Meadowdale Ct.

Firefighters said the fire started somewhere on the first floor and extended up to the roof.

Video shows as large flames shot out of the roof of the building.

Twenty-three families were displaced, Village President John Skillman said.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

No firefighters were injured.

A donation drop-off site was established at the Village of Carpentersville Public Works Building at 1075 Tamarac Drive, Skillman said.

The Red Cross, Kane County OEM and the local Moose Lodge were helping residents impacted by the fire.
