Concern from local residents come with the many large gatherings that are happening across the city before school starts up again.

Local activists are specifically worried about the gun violence among Chicago's youth as at least seven of the shooting victims from the weekend across the city are teenagers, as of early Sunday evening.

La Crosse Avenue mass shooting

A woman was killed and five other people were shot at about 2:48 a.m. in the 100-block of N. La Crosse Avenue, according to police.

Police said a 22-year-old woman was shot in the back. She was taken to Mt. Sinai hospital, where she later died. Her identity has not yet been released.

A 17-year-old boy was shot to the left thigh. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A man, 29, was shot in the right leg and he was taken to Loretto hospital in critical condition. An 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and arm. He was taken to Stroger hospital in critical condition. A second 18-year-old man was grazed in the left hand. He was treated at the scene. A woman, 29, was shot in the right elbow and was expected to be okay.

Pastor Donovan Price responded to the scene overnight. He said the gatherings often lead to more violence.

"You can't stop people from trying to have a good time especially young people, but unfortunately these mass gatherings end up with mass shootings," Price said.

Wilcox Avenue shooting

There was another incident on the city's West Side near West Wilcox Avenue where shots were fired just before 2 a.m., injuring at least four people.

One of those victims was a 16-year-old, who was in serious condition, and a 15-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds but is expected to be okay.

Video from the scene showed evidence markers and trash on the ground in the aftermath of what appeared to be a party.

"Both were chaotic both were sad," Price said. "Both seemed like people were out trying to have a good last hoorah for the summer and everything turned violent."

Alderman Jason Ervin issued a statement on the two shootings in his 28th Ward, saying in part "My heart goes out to the families of the victims and to all those whose lives have been changed by this senseless violence. I am calling on our community leaders, our public safety partners, and concerned citizens to work together to bring the perpetrators of these shootings to justice and to begin the work of healing our community."

Maypole Avenue shooting

About three blocks from the mass shooting at the large gathering near La Crosse Avenue, police said an 18-year-old was shot and killed and another was injured.

CPD said the other shooting happened in the 5000-block of W. Maypole Avenue at about 4:37 a.m.

Two 18-year-old men were allegedly in an argument with two people who were in a vehicle, police said. The two suspects who were in the car started shooting at the 18-year-old, police said.

One 18-year-old man was shot twice in the back. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died. His identity has not yet been released.

The other 18-year-old man was shot in the arm. He was taken to Mt. Sinai and is expected to be okay.

Lamon Avenue shooting

In the same area, a woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The 20-year-old woman was found in the 200-block of North Lamon at about 1:40 a.m. She was taken to Mt. Sinai and was listed in good condition.

As summer winds down, local activists are trying everything they can to keep the city's youth safe.

"If it's all hands on deck, then perhaps we could curb the problem," Price said. "There are going to be upticks like this. Hopefully, as I said, this will be a weekend we don't see very often."

So the investigations continue tonight for all of the shootings. Chicago police say no one has been arrested.

Chicago police have not confirmed if any of the shootings were related.
