At least 13 shot, 2 fatally, in 4 separate shootings early Sunday on West Side, police say
CHICAGO (WLS) -- At least 34 people have been shot, five fatally, in shootings across Chicago so far this weekend, police said.
Chicago police are investigating a mass shooting on the city's West Side on Sunday morning.
Police reported three separate shootings within a couple of blocks in the South Austin neighborhood on Sunday.
A woman was killed and five other people were shot at about 2:48 a.m. in the 100-block of North La Crosse Avenue, according to police.
Police said a 22-year-old woman was shot in the back. She was taken to Mt. Sinai hospital, where she died.
A 17-year-old boy was shot to the left thigh. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A man, 29, was shot in the right leg, he was taken to Loretto Hospital in critical condition.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and arm. He was taken to Stroger hospital in critical condition.
A second 18-year-old man was grazed in the left hand. He was treated at the scene.
A woman, 29, was shot in the right elbow, is expected to be okay.
About three blocks from that large gathering, police said, an 18-year-old was shot and killed.
CPD said the shooting happened in the 5000-block of W. Maypole Avenue at about 4:37 a.m.
Two 18-year-old men were allegedly in an argument with two people who were in a vehicle, police said.
The two suspects who were in the car started shooting at the 18-year-old, police said.
One of the 18-year-old was shot twice in the back. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died.
The other 18-year-old was shot in the arm. He was taken to Mt. Sinai and is expected to be okay.
In the same area, a woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
The 20-year-old was found in the 200-block of North Lamon Avenue at about 1:40 a.m. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and was listed in good condition.
Chicago police have not said whether all three shootings are connected.

In the West Garfield Park neighborhood, four people were hurt, two seriously, in a shooting early Sunday, police said.
At about 1:47 a.m., police responded to a call about shots fired in the 4500-block of West Wilcox Avenue.
Video shows large groups of young people hanging out near the scene.
CPD said at least four people were rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Their conditions range from serious to good.
A 16-year-old boy was shot multiple times and is in serious condition.
A 28-year-old man was shot in the neck and head. He was also listed in serious condition.
Another 28-year-old man victim suffered a graze wound to the leg and was transported to Mt. Sinai in good condition.
A 15-year-old boy, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body, was taken to Stroger Hospital. Police said he was expected to be okay.
Video from the scene shows evidence markers and trash on the ground in the aftermath of what appeared to be sort of party. Police were seen searching the area for more evidence.
What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.
Nobody is in custody.
A man was shot to death in a South Side parking lot on Friday evening, Chicago police said.
Police said the shooting happened in the West Chatham neighborhood's 0-100-block of West 79th Street just before 7 p.m.
Two people approached a 26-year-old man in a parking lot, took out guns and fired shots, police said.
The victim, shot in the head and shoulder, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
There is no one in custody, and area detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
Hours later, two men were shot and seriously injured inside a vehicle on Chicago's West Side, police said.
Police said officers responded to a call about a shooting in the West Garfield Park neighborhood's 4600-block of West Lake Street around 9:45 p.m.
The men, 33 and 35 years old, were sitting in a vehicle when a dark-colored sedan approached them, police said. That's when someone inside took out a gun and opened fire.
Police said both men were shot in the body multiple times.
The 35-year-old was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
The 33-year-old was transported to the same hospital in serious condition.
There is no one in custody, and Area Four detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
Minutes later, a man was found shot to death inside a vehicle on Chicago's Far South Side, police said.
Police said the 23-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the East Side neighborhood's 11300-block of South Avenue G just before 10 p.m.
The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers recovered a weapon from the scene. Area Two detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
Early Saturday morning, a Concealed-Carry License holder was injured in a shootout in the South Loop neighborhood, police said.
Police said officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 1300-block of South Wabash Avenue around 2:30 a.m.
A 35-year-old man was getting out of his vehicle when another vehicle approached him, police said. Two male suspects got out of that vehicle, took out guns and fired shots toward the man.
That's when the victim, a CCL holder, took out his own gun and returned fire, police said.
The victim, shot in the shoulder, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in fair condition.
No other injuries were reported.
There is no one in custody, and Area Three detectives are investigating.
