Man shot, killed inside car in South Austin, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died after being shot in South Austin on Monday, Chicago police said.

The shooting happened at about 3:09 p.m. in the 5500-block of West Lake Street, police said.

A 35-year-old man was inside a parked vehicle when someone pulled up and started shooting, police said.

The victim was shot multiple times to the body.

Chopper 7 was over the scene as police investigated.

Police said the victim was taken to an area hospital where he died.

CPD is investigating. It was unclear if anybody was in custody.
