NIPSCO expects to have all power restored in NW Indiana by Tuesday night
LAKE COUNTY, Ind. (WLS) -- Tuesday marks two weeks without power for thousands of customers in Northwest Indiana.
According to NIPSCO, a few thousand customers are still without power, most of them in Gary, after August 11 storms knocked out service to several communities in Northwest Indiana. But there is hope.

The utility said everyone should be back online by Tuesday night. That is reason for celebration amid the frustration.
"At night the house is burning up," Gary resident Dale Pugh said. "You have to open the windows and all the doors to stay cool. And you know, it's unacceptable."

"It's just a slap in the face when the people around you just seem to keep moving just fine when you're in shambles," Gary resident Melissa Rivera said.
Next to getting their power back, only the power prayer can ease the anger and frustration felt by some people in Gary as the community waits to have power again.
Some residents came together for service Monday night led by Pastor Jamal Bryant- at the Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church. They gathered to support one another as many of them still remained in the dark.
