
CHICAGO (WLS) -- ABC7 Chicago was Cooking up a Storm Thursday with R.J. Grunts.
This year, the Lincoln Park location is celebrating its 55th anniversary.
The restaurant is known for the creation of the salad bar and potato skins.
On Thursday, they made their signature "Gruntburger."
Janet Kirker, executive chef at R.J. Grunts, walked through how to make it.
- 4 lb. hamburger patties
- 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
- 2 Spanish onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. celery salt
- 1 tsp. granulated garlic
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. Kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp. ground thyme
- 1/2 tsp. ground oregano
- 1 qt. frying oil
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup Danish bleu cheese crumbles
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- A dash white pepper
