Powerball winner in Tenn. strikes $260M jackpot; $1M prize won in Palos Park

PALOS PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Someone in Knoxville, Tennessee, has won the $259.8 million jackpot up for grabs in Wednesday night's Powerball drawing, while a winner in Chicago's south suburbs is also $1 million richer.

The winning numbers - 14, 18, 25, 33, 49 and 23 yielded four $1 million winners for matching five numbers each in Illinois, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania.

A Palos Park gas station sold a winning Match 5 Powerball ticket. The winner, who has yet to come forward, purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket at Shell, 12301 South 80th Avenue.

This is the second big winning Illinois Lottery ticket sold in Palos Park in the past two days. Circle K, at 13059 South La Grange Road, sold a $200,000 winning ticket for the Tuesday Lucky Day Lotto evening drawing.

Shell will receive a bonus of $10,000, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a $1 million ticket.

A total of 1,035,581 winners across the country will split $12,167,951 in smaller prizes after Wednesday's Powerball drawing. A total of 37,854 players won prizes in Illinois.

The Powerball drawing is held every Wednesday and Saturday. The base jackpot is $40 million.
