Reports of knife at Proviso East High School unfounded, police say

MAYWOOD, Ill. (WLS) -- Cook County Sheriff's officers were called to Proviso East High School in Maywood after a knife was reported on campus, police said.

Officials said the school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, but was secured and the allegations were unfounded.

The school will continue to have additional security for the remainder of the day, officials said.
