CHICAGO (WLS) -- Keeping people out of the Cook County Jail - that's one of the goals of the newly announced Restorative Justice Fund.

The fund will receive $500,000, which will provide ex-cons with mentorships, jobs and other services to prevent them from returning to jail.

The money will be released as grant money, which organizations will be able to apply for.
