CHICAGO (WLS) -- The city of Chicago is considering paying a $250,000 settlement to a mother whose son died after being punched by former Mayor Richard M. Daley's nephew.

Richard Vanecko pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 2004 death of David Koschman and served a 60-day jail sentence.

Koschman's mother filed the lawsuit a year ago accusing Chicago police of false evidence and concealing information to protect Daley's nephew.
