School bus catches fire on Dan Ryan Expressway

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A school bus caught fire Thursday morning on the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway just before 71st Street on Chicago's South Side.

Chopper 7HD was over the scene around 6:25 a.m. The fire appeared to have started in the engine and was extinguished at that time.

The top side of the front of the bus looked completely charred. Firefighters and the Illinois Department of Transportation were still at the scene.

Two adults got off the bus safely, authorities said. There were no children on board.
