CHICAGO (WLS) -- The City of Chicago and Peoples Gas are urging Chicagoans who need help paying their heating bills to apply to the Share the Warmth program.
Close to $500,000 in grants are still available. According to the city, that's enough money to fund at least 25,000 households.
Customers can enroll in Share the Warmth by calling 1-800-571-CEDA (2332) or visiting the Peoples Gas website, http://www.peoplesgasdelivery.com/home/share_warmth.aspx.
Peoples Gas said customers should bring these documents with them to apply for a grant:
Proof of gross income from all household members for the last 30 days.
Copy of most recent utility bill.
Proof of Social Security Numbers for all household members.
A Medical Eligibility Card for any household member receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF.)
