Chicago woman to celebrate 111th birthday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago woman is now one of the oldest living people in the world.

Ruth Adler turns 111 years old on Monday - Jan. 11 or 1/11.

Friends and family gathered on the city's North Side for her party.

Adler is among about 78 people in the world who are in the tiny demographic called super-centenarian, a designation given to someone who has lived to or beyond their 110th birthday.
