Friends, family holding remembrance for Rekia Boyd

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Friends and family of Rekia Boyd are holding a celebration Saturday to remember her. They're hosting a Unity and Freedom Party on what would have been Boyd's 27th birthday.

An off-duty Chicago police officer killed Boyd in 2012. She was 22 years old at the time.

The officer accused in her death resigned from the police force.
