CHICAGO (WLS) -- Former Mayor Richard Daley made a rare public appearance when he was honored by the Chicago Architecture Foundation at its 40th annual gala.
The foundation said that while Daley was mayor, he established an urban design legacy and most notably, the creation of Millennium Park.
"I really appreciate the award, because of what it stands for is 22 years of dedication. People that worked with me and to all the architects and all those that work with them," Daley said.
All the proceeds from Thursday night's event benefit the foundation's youth education programs.
