CHICAGO -- St. Hyacinth Basilica School was broken into, the office ransacked and the safe stolen, school officials said.
About $5,000 was inside the safe, according to a post on the school's website, which, in part, read,
"The safe contained money raised over the last several months for the Keep the Light Alive Scholarships, as well as money for our 8th grade graduation festivities. . ."
The school at 3640 West Wolfram is slated for closure by the Chicago Archdiocese.
Anyone with information should call Chicago police.
