CHICAGO (WLS) -- More than 1,000 Chicago Public Schools students have applied for the STAR Scholarship since December, according to city officials.
The scholarship covers the cost for tuition, fees and books at City Colleges of Chicago for up to three years.
CPS students who graduate in spring of 2015 or later with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the STAR Scholarship. They must test college-ready in math and English, as well as enter one of the City Colleges pathways.
Undocumented students and CPS charter school students may also apply, the city said.
